Utility Theory in Decision Problems

Abstract

This article introduces one of the constituent themes of Decision Theory: utility. The objective of utility is to assess the consequences of decisions made based on the preferences of the person involved in the decision-making process. Specifically, we study the mathematical contents that give meaning to the theory of utility: preference relationships and monetary utility.
