Name the mural: an educational experience with street art for children and art history students
Abstract
This study sets out in detail a teaching initiative with two strands: one aimed at children and the other at university students, specifically those on the Bachelor’s degree in Art History. The activity involves titling a selection of contemporary murals by the artists Brea and Sojo, located in the local area (Extremadura), with the aim of identifying hermeneutic and narrative clues in the interpretation of the works. At the same time, as the tutors are students on the BA in Art History, they learn to recognise the distinctive iconographic motifs of street art across the different layers of depth present in the paintings.
