The Mau Mau. From the defeat to Independence (1944-1962)

Abstract
Decolonization history about British colonies is no an uniform event, finding big differences between east and west Africa decolonization procedures. While in the west the new governments are passed to the local elites, like Nigeria, in the east, the British want to create white European governments supported by local ethnic groups. Kenya is the failure of this idea. Kenya throughout his history suffered ethnic conflicts between different ethnic groups and the dominant ethnic groups. Despite their ethnic and economic differences Kenya don´t suffered serious ethnic conflicts till 1952. This article is an approximated chronology from the first nationalist parties until Kenia´s Independence, focusing on Mau Mau´s development and objectives, to Mau Mau´s defeat, causing Kenia´s independence procedure that finishing in 1962 with independence declaration.
