Abstract

The current changes in interpretation and analysis of what was the conquest of Mexico have led to the dismantling of some positions that had become entrenched not only in the popular imagination but even in the academic world. Aspects such as the emblematic use of the crested morion, the armored soldiers of Cortés, the use of firearms as the technological determinant for the Spanish victory over the Mexica, among other factors that are now changing, this paper reflects on on these aspects.

The role of Military History is considered an essential discipline to be able to interpret with an objective, academic and scientific measure, the various military confrontations that were not only summarized in the fall of Tenochtitlan, but also in the various scenarios before and after the fall of the Mexica Empire.
