Abstract
This paper analyzes the organization of the allied host that besieged Mexico City-Tenochtitlan during the summer of 1521, inserting the military strategy developed by Hernán Cortés in a long-standing tradition that has its roots in the Castilian Middle Ages, which was updated during the war in Granada. In this sense, the importance of the amphibious operation is revealed once again, the structure and organization of the allied host are analyzed while highlighting the fact that it was the Castilian experience of siege warfare that was imposed to carry out the submission of the Mexican capital.
