Abstract

The publisher of Studia Humanitatis Journal interviews Fernando Simón. Epidemiologist, cooperating doctor for many years and now director of the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies of the Ministry of Health. It has been and is the most visible face of COVID-19 during this long year and a half of the pandemic. A man who believes in what he does and who, although he does not expressly say so, has a clear vocation to serve others and has shown that he is willing to pay the price of that service by sacrificing his own daily reality. Always in the media spotlight and in the eye of the political hurricane, because “I have had to do it and what cannot be is that you get out of the way halfway.
