Abstract

We have the pleasure of interviewing Lydia García Trabado, a leading collector specialising in textiles, historian and documentalist. Since 6 June 2025 she has been curating, together with Ángela Suau of Carte Colección, the temporary exhibition Madrid Art Decó 1925: the style of a new era at the Centro Conde Duque in Madrid.

We met with her under the emblematic dome of the Palace Hotel, an iconic space in the history of early 20th century fashion shows in Madrid. During our conversation, Lydia talked to us about her professional career, the challenges involved in the conservation of textile collections and the difficulties faced by private initiatives within the cultural sphere.
