Peer review process

All research papers received by Ciudad Esmeralda. Revista de Estudios sobre Literatura Infantil y Juvenil will be subject to the following peer review system:

First, papers will be reviewed internally by the editorial team, which will decide on the relevance of the paper to the journal's areas of research and whether or not to continue with the evaluation process. All authors whose articles have been rejected will be notified in writing of the reasons for this decision. An article may be rejected for not meeting the journal's research standards or for not being related to the debates, methodologies and issues that are of primary interest to Ciudad Esmeralda. Revista de Estudios sobre Literatura Infantil y Juvenil.

Papers that pass this internal evaluation will be submitted to the Turnitin plagiarism detection programme before moving on to the external evaluation phase. Any irregularities detected will be notified to the authors, which may result in the paper being excluded from the evaluation process.

Secondly, papers will be reviewed by external reviewers, chosen for their recognised prestige in the field of study of the paper. In accordance with the blind peer review system, each paper will be evaluated anonymously by at least two reviewers who are specialists in the field of study. A greater number of reviews may be requested when deemed appropriate (reviewers from different disciplines or traditions). After reading and analysing the reviews, the journal's editorial board will make a reasoned decision on each paper, which may be rejection, acceptance without modifications, acceptance with minor modifications, or the need for structural modifications.

Only texts that receive excellent evaluations, do not require major modifications, and, in the opinion of the journal, make a very significant contribution to the field of study will be published. The number of papers published is necessarily small, and therefore the selection process is very demanding.

Evaluations will take into account the originality and scientific quality of the proposal, its contribution to the field of study in which it is registered, its use of appropriate methodological tools, its coherence and clarity of presentation, and its relevance to the proposed fields of study.

All authors whose papers have been rejected will be notified in writing of the reasons for this decision. Similarly, those whose papers are to be included in the publication will be notified of their acceptance. This process depends on the work of external reviewers, who carry out their evaluations without remuneration and on a voluntary basis, so it may take several months. Ciudad Esmeralda. Revista de Estudios sobre Literatura Infantil y Juvenil aims to provide the results of the peer review process within a period of no more than six months from the date the article is submitted.

Reviews will be evaluated internally by the journal's editorial team, and authors will be notified of the decision following the same procedure as for research papers.
