The Middle Ages and the Textbooks: A Neomedievalism

Abstract

A concept that is difficult to define, it is a characteristic of neomedievalism due to continuous change and development about the construction around the concept of the Middle Ages. Understanding the didactic material regarding the Middle Ages as such, the textbook is often Brazilian's first and/or only contact with books, characterizing itself as a crucial instrument in classrooms. A fact that makes it urgent to constantly improve this material and, consequently, the debates and criticisms regarding these Works. Thus, the figure of the of the Middle Ages in the textbooks is the object of analysis through the theory of neomedievalism in this article.
