Roles of the editorial team

The Neomedieval Editorial Team comprises the Editors-in-chief, the Editorial Board, the Advisory Board, Review Editors and Editorial Assistants.

Editors-in-chief

The Editors-in-chief, who founded Neomedieval in 2024, constitute the journal’s highest institutional authority. They are responsible for appointing or dismissing the Editorial Board, the Advisory Board, the Review Editors and the Editorial Assistants. To maintain the journal’s diversity and quality, such appointments and dismissals shall take place every five years. Furthermore, the Editors-in-chief oversee the delegation of duties within the various committees and, ultimately, have the authority to approve or reject the publication of a manuscript.

Editorial Assistants

The editorial assistants are responsible for updating the website, reviewing submitted manuscripts to ensure consistency and correctness in all contributions in accordance with academic and publication style guidelines (MLA), as well as promoting the journal’s content on social media (X, Instagram, etc.). In addition, they assist in identifying, managing and maintaining the relevant indexing databases and distribution lists for the journal. They are also responsible for issuing certificates that formally accredit all the work carried out within Neomedieval.

Review editors

The Review editors are responsible for identifying works of interest for this section, as well as for contacting authors who are experts in the field to write the reviews. Furthermore, once the reviews have been received, they are responsible for proofreading and standardising them in accordance with academic and publication style guidelines (MLA).

Editorial Board

Members of the Editorial Board shall be appointed and, where appropriate, removed by the Editors-in-chief of Neomedieval. Their main role is to collaborate with the management team in defining the journal’s content and style, establishing guidelines for the submission of manuscripts and the journal’s design. They shall also oversee the proper receipt, evaluation and acceptance of submissions.

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board will assist the Editorial Board in establishing a high-impact, top-quality platform, with the aim of making Neomedieval a leading reference in the discipline within the Ibero-American sphere. It comprises a group of researchers holding a PhD and recognised international standing in the field of neomedieval studies. Together with the editors, it devises the journal’s scientific strategy, contributes to its internationalisation, attends meetings at which periodic evaluations of results are carried out, and provides conceptual and scientific support to the publication.
