Digital preservation

Neomedieval guarantees open access and has an archiving system that ensures its digital preservation through its OJS (Open Journal System) publishing programme.

PKP Preservation Network (PN)

This digital preservation system is supported by the PKP Preservation Network and offers free preservation services for any OJS journal that meets the basic criteria. Thus, all articles published in Neomedieval are archived in LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), guaranteeing permanent and secure archiving of their content.

Neomedieval deposits its metadata and offers free open access in various international repositories to ensure long-term digital preservation, such as Dialnet and DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), Dulcinea and Jisc.

The articles published on this website are available in widely known and easy-to-use formats, such as PDF and EPUB. The digital preservation policy is constantly reviewed to offer formats that are readable and preservable over time.

LOCKSS

Open Journal Systems, which hosts Neomedieval, is compatible with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which guarantees the journal permanent and secure archiving.

LOCKSS is an open-source computer programme developed by Stanford University Library that allows libraries to preserve newly published content and archive it from registered journals. Each archive is continuously validated against records from other libraries, so any damaged or lost content can be restored using those records or the journal itself.

CLOCKSS

Open Journal Systems also supports the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure permanent and secure archiving for the journal.
